Last night we went into the NICU to say goodnight to Madeleine and as we were about to leave I said to Paul that I just want to hold her. Madeleine's nurse heard me say that and said well why don't we try. She took her out from under the O2 hood and let me hold her. She did great! All of her stats were good and it looked like she did not even need the o2. After a little bit of time Madeleine was acting hungry so the nurse said I should try and feed her. Agian, she did great! Now Madeleine no longer needs (at leats for now) o2 or and she does not need to be under the warmer. She slept in a normal bassinet last night and I fed her in the middle of the night. We are now going to try and get her to breast feed regularly. It is amazing how much better Paul and I (and I am sure Madeleine too) feel now that we can hold her and don't just have to stand there and look at her. Hopefully today she will continue to improve and by the time she gets to go home she will be 100%
