Missing our beach

Duxbury beach is closed because of an endangered bird, the piping plover, nesting on the beach.  It is a bummer that we can't spend June on the beach.

Instead of spending our days lounging on this piece of heaven....

We have been creating lots of fun in the back yard!
Our beach goer group of friends has also been rotating houses for BBQs so we can still all get together and have fun.  We miss the beach and can't wait to get back there in August but in the mean time we will just be creative.

Helping Daddy mow

Madeleine learned to ride a bike without training wheels this weekend.  Her new bike is a little too big so she learned on this smaller one.  She picked it up pretty fast and it was so fun watching her do it.  She was so proud of herself.

Cape with Friends

Cape Cod with 5 adults, 4 babies, 3 toddlers, and 5 5 year olds!  It was hectic and crazy but lots of fun!  Our playgroup (minus Lori and kids) headed to the Cape for a few days to celebrate the end of school/beginning of summer.  It turned out to be a rainy few days but the kids still had a blast and we were able to get to the beach a few times in between rain.

They were SO excited!

Bridget and Henry loving the indoor pool
We had a huge balcony for teh kids to play on and to get from room to room.
This is how I found M and C in the morning.
Hot dogs and ice cream in a train for dinner... what could be better?!

Summer Days

S'mores are a summer favorite around our house.

Lots and lots of grilling... even more than usual since we are without a kitchen.
night out in Boston with friends.  It was a beautiful night so we took the commuter boat in.
Madeleine and her friend Olivia planned to wear the same outfit.  So cute!
Tired baby!  We were riding bikes in the circle and Bridget laid down for a little rest.

Watching a movie on a rainy day.

Madeleine's Last day at Wilder

Camp Wilder ended today so Madeleine is now officially done with Wilder.  I can't believe her time at Wilder has come to an end.  It was the perfect school for her and I am so happy she had such a wonderful first school experience.  Wilder is a truly special place and I know she will miss it but she is ready to move on.  She has learned so much and grown so much.  When she started at Wilder she was very quiet and spent her time with her friend Brandon, she didn't talk much, or show her true personality.  Now, almost two years later, she is confident and outgoing.  I watched her on the playgound laughing, playing, and calling out to other kids.  She has developed friendships with kids from other classes that I didn't even know she knew.  It is amazing to watch her develop relationships with people on her own and see her confidence.

Madeleine on her first day at Wilder.  She has grown up so much.

Here is a self portrait that she drew at the beginning of this school year.

Here is one that she drew at the end of the school year.

I have struggled with what to do with all the art that comes home from school and with various keep sakes.  Madeleine finishing Wilder finally motivated me to put together notebooks of her art and keepsakes.  She has a notebook from each school year and I hope to continue this through high school.  It has been so fun for her to be able to look through them.
